Dickinson County Released Inmate Records
A Dickinson County booking can end through bond, time served, dismissal, probation, another court order, transfer, or commitment to a different custodian. The public Tyler roster is current-custody first. Once a booking closes, a name may no longer appear in its results. That absence does not identify the outcome. The booking/release sheet or jail ledger entry is the direct county record of the physical book-out.
The legal and custody records serve different roles. A court order can authorize bond, dismissal, probation, commitment, or release. The detention record supplies the actual exit time. KASPER follows a person committed to the Kansas Department of Corrections. BOP, USMS, and ICE records apply only when the custody lane is federal or immigration based.
- Time served
- The custodial part of a sentence has been met, though another case, fine, or supervision may remain.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that may be used instead of prison custody.
- Parole
- Conditional community release for a sentence eligible for a Prisoner Review Board decision.
- Discharge
- The end of the relevant correctional authority, not just departure from one building.
- Detainer
- A hold or request that can send a person to another custodian after local book-out.
Dickinson County Release Types
The next search step depends on the release type. “Released from Dickinson County” may describe community release or only the end of the county's part in a longer custody chain.
| County outcome | What it means | Where to verify next |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | The case continues outside jail after conditions are met and other holds clear. | Court order plus actual county book-out |
| Time served | The local custodial term is complete. | Sentencing entry and county release record |
| Dismissal | That case may no longer support detention, but another matter can. | Court disposition and jail destination |
| Probation | The person is in the community under court oversight. | Court record and supervising office |
| KDOC commitment | County custody ends while state confinement begins or continues. | KASPER and KDOC movement record |
| Federal, ICE, or another jail | The county booking ends through an interagency handoff. | Receiving locator, docket, and county destination field |
Death is a terminal custody event and should never be described as an ordinary release. Likewise, transfer must not be described as freedom. Precise terms protect the meaning of the record.
Dickinson County Release Record Fields
The most useful request asks for an existing administrative record tied to one booking. Dickinson County's public detail schema confirms that Booking Date, Release Date, and Scheduled Release Date fields exist, along with bond, charge, prisoner-type, and booking-history data. It does not prove that the county maintains a standard release-reason field.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifiers | Connect the record to the intended person. |
| Subject number | Links a person across booking histories in the jail software. |
| Booking number | Identifies the precise admission and is the best county request key. |
| Booking date and time | Marks admission processing, not always arrest or filing time. |
| Actual Release Date | Marks the administrative end of the booking when populated. |
| Scheduled Release Date | Shows a plan that can change and is not proof of exit. |
| Release status or destination | Can distinguish community book-out from transfer, if maintained. |
| Releasing authority | Identifies the legal or agency basis recorded for the exit. |
| Bond and charge data | Links the booking to conditions and court matters, but does not prove release. |
| Booking photograph | Documents the booking appearance and may be tied to that admission. |
A blank scheduled or actual field supplies no fact. Do not calculate a date or infer release from it. Charge wording in jail software may also differ from the final court disposition.
Request Dickinson County Release Records
Dickinson County routes open-record requests through County Clerk Jennifer Gaytan. The clerk coordinates with the responsible department, so a requester does not need to guess which county office holds each part. Use the official Dickinson County open-records form and describe the record, not a conclusion the county must research.
- Collect the full name, date of birth when appropriate, subject or booking number, booking-date range, and court case number if known.
- Ask for the booking/release sheet or jail ledger entry, including actual release date and time, status or destination if maintained, releasing authority, and associated booking photograph.
- Request electronic delivery and an itemized estimate before costs are incurred.
- Submit the form to County Clerk Jennifer Gaytan, 109 E. 1st St., Suite 207, Abilene, KS 67410; 785-263-3774; fax 785-263-2045; jgaytan@dkcoks.gov.
- Respond promptly if the county sends a cost estimate, narrowing question, delay notice, or legal basis for withheld material.
The 2026 county fee schedule charges staff time at the preparer's hourly rate using the lowest-cost reasonable category. County-supplied electronic media may cost $15 when needed. If estimated work exceeds five staff hours or $200 in actual staff cost, the county begins a cost-mitigation exchange. No response to a fee assessment within three business days may lead to withdrawal.
Note: Ask for actual rather than scheduled release and request a destination only “if maintained in the public record.”
Dickinson County Release Record Law
The Kansas Open Records Act, K.S.A. 45-215 through 45-223, starts from openness subject to statutory exceptions. K.S.A. 45-218 requires action as soon as possible and by the end of the third business day. That is a response deadline, not a promise that every record will be produced by then.
K.S.A. 45-219 permits written requests, advance payment, and reasonable fees generally tied to actual furnishing cost, including necessary review and redaction. K.S.A. 45-221 can restrict juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, investigative, security, and personal information. Ask for separable booking and release fields rather than the whole investigative file.
No public Dickinson County retention rule for released roster records was found. The current-custody interface did not expose a released archive in testing. Historical access therefore belongs in a county request, not in a claim that former bookings remain online for a set number of hours or days.
Dickinson County Release and Expungement
Kansas expungement timing can run from sentence satisfaction or discharge from probation, community corrections, parole, postrelease, conditional release, or a suspended sentence. That makes a completion or discharge record important. K.S.A. 21-6614 does not set one universal waiting period.
Many listed misdemeanors and lower-severity or nongrid felonies use three years. Other categories use five years, while some DUI provisions can use five or ten years. Exclusions and special conditions apply. A Dickinson petition belongs in the convicting court when that court handled the conviction.
Expungement can restrict conviction and related arrest records. It does not support a promise that every independently published image disappears. The county and court should be asked what public portion remains after a valid order.
Dickinson County Jail Release Context
The sheriff's 2024 annual report gives local scale without turning bookings into releases. It reports 785 subjects booked, an average daily population of 38, a peak of 50, and a maximum capacity of 64. A budget document reports 786 people. The dedicated annual report is the better source for the booking count, and the one-person conflict should not be averaged or hidden.
Bookings are not releases. One person can have more than one booking, and the annual report does not classify every exit. These figures describe turnover and workload only.
Dickinson County Jail and Court
The Dickinson County Detention Facility is a 2020, 64-bed adult facility built into the first floor of the courthouse at 109 E. 1st St. District Court and Community Corrections are at the same street address. Physical proximity makes navigation easier, but each office has a separate proof function.
Detention timestamps the physical book-out. District Court explains the bond order, dismissal, sentence, probation, commitment, revocation, or discharge that supplied legal authority. Community Corrections manages qualifying intensive-supervision cases. The sheriff maintains custody records. A single office cannot be substituted for all four roles.
The official sheriff page provides facility and contact context shown below.
The shared courthouse setting helps explain why the record trail is compact yet still divided by agency.
Find Dickinson County Released Inmates
Start with the custody episode, then move forward by identifier. Repeating a name across unrelated systems is less reliable than following booking, case, KDOC, and federal numbers.
- Search the official Dickinson Tyler roster for a current booking and record the subject and booking numbers. Roster absence alone proves nothing about release.
- Call the jail at 785-263-4734 and ask whether actual book-out occurred and whether the public record identifies community release or transfer.
- Search the Kansas court portal with the case number or party name and Dickinson court filter. Read the docket for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, commitment, revocation, or discharge.
- If the person entered state custody, search KASPER for movement, anticipated release, supervision, or discharged status.
- Use VINELink only as a participating-feed notification supplement. Use BOP, the federal docket and USMS, or ICE ODLS for the matching federal lane.
- Request the county booking/release record when the public roster no longer supplies a durable answer.
Important: A released person usually leaves the live jail roster. Disappearance cannot distinguish community release, transfer, data lag, or a search mismatch.
Dickinson County Release Search Limits
Dickinson County publishes a Tyler/NewWorld Inmate Inquiry. Its default In Custody control is checked. Direct testing on July 18, 2026, including a broad date search, returned only records marked In Custody: Yes. No official released, recent releases, 24-hour, or 72-hour view was found.
Individual detail pages can contain timestamped photos, booking history, Booking Date, Release Date, Scheduled Release Date, prisoner type, bond, bail, and charge data. That schema is richer than the result list, but schema capability does not create a rolling public release archive.

The current-custody design is why the jail phone and records-request fallback are essential for past releases.
Dickinson County Release Court Search
The Eighth Judicial District directs record searches to Kansas Judicial Branch Case Search. Use a case number when known. Otherwise search by party name with Dickinson County and court filters, then review the register of actions and available documents.
A local migration quirk affects older cases. Matters started in Dickinson and several other Eighth District counties before migration may not appear in the public portal. Restricted, sealed, and expunged records can also be absent. A no-result should lead to a clerk inquiry, not a claim that the case never existed.
The court order and jail record must be paired. An order can precede actual exit because bond processing or another hold remains. The jail and court share an address, yet court event time is not book-out time.
KASPER Dickinson Released Inmate Search
KASPER covers KDOC custody, parole, and funded community-supervision populations. It does not prove a purely local bond or time-served release. Search fields include name and aliases, KDOC number, KBI number, birth information, race, gender, conviction county, supervision county, community-corrections location, facility, and supervision type.
| Search field | Use | Key caution |
|---|---|---|
| KDOC number | Best unique state identifier | Different from county booking and KBI numbers |
| Name and aliases | Broad identity search | Compare birth and physical details |
| Conviction county | Can narrow to Dickinson cases | Does not prove current residence |
| Supervision county or office | Helps find community status | Verify current assignment with the office |
| Supervision type | Distinguishes inmate, parole, community, absconder, or discharged | Read with date and location |
KASPER updates each working day. It has a documented gap for community-corrections events after April 21, 2021 during modernization. Current intensive-supervision facts should be verified with Dickinson Community Corrections. Parole or postrelease status means prison custody ended while KDOC authority continues. Discharged is stronger evidence that state authority ended.
Dickinson County Release Supervision
Dickinson County has two supervision lanes that are often confused. KDOC parole and postrelease matters go through the Salina Parole Office. Intensive community-corrections probation is handled in Abilene. Ordinary court services probation may use another court path.
Most modern non-off-grid Kansas guidelines sentences use a prison term followed by mandatory postrelease supervision. Traditional parole applies chiefly to indeterminate old-law and specified off-grid or life sentences. The Dickinson County Parole / Probation page explains the KASPER and local-office checks.
Absconder status means an unresolved claim that the person avoided supervision or made whereabouts unknown. It is not discharge and should not prompt a private attempt to locate or detain the person.
Dickinson County Release Notifications
Kansas VINELink can search custody events and register alerts through participating agency feeds. Dickinson County participation must be confirmed in the live agency selector. Statewide portal availability is not proof that every Dickinson booking appears.
A matched record may report an agency, status, event, and date. Register from the correct record for offered phone, text, email, or app methods. Voice notice uses a chosen four-digit PIN to acknowledge the call and stop repeats. Alerts can lag and do not replace the official release record.
The KBI registry is another narrow system. It covers people with qualifying sex, violent, or drug registration duties, not all released people. A match does not establish the latest release date, and a no-match does not establish custody.
Dickinson County Release or Transfer?
Transfer is the most important Dickinson County release false positive. A person can disappear from the county roster because Dickinson relinquished custody to KDOC, USMS, ICE, or another jail. The county booking ended, but the person was not released to the community.
Request the destination or receiving agency if that field is maintained. Then follow the matching locator or movement record. A KDOC intake can appear in KASPER after processing. USMS manages federal pretrial transport but has no public historical locator like BOP. ICE ODLS searches current immigration detention, and no match is not proof of release.
No state prison, BOP prison, ICE detention facility, or verified ICE county contract was identified in Dickinson County. These are contingency paths for individual transfers, not local facility claims.
Dickinson County Release Search Sources
Each system answers only the question within its jurisdiction. Use the source designed for the fact.
| Source | Best evidence | Cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| Dickinson Tyler roster | Current county custody and accessible booking fields | Why an absent person left |
| County release record | Book-out date, time, status, destination, or authority if maintained | Later state or federal status |
| District Court | Bond order, disposition, sentence, probation, commitment, discharge filing | Exact physical exit |
| KASPER | KDOC movement, anticipated date, supervision, and discharge | Purely local release |
| VINELink | Participating-feed event and prospective alert | Universal history or guaranteed timing |
| BOP locator | Federal BOP release or not-in-custody result | USMS-only or county history |
| ICE ODLS | Searchable current ICE detention | Historical release from no match |
Getting Home After Dickinson Release
No official jail release time, exit door, family waiting point, weekend schedule, or jail-arranged ride was found. Do not assume transportation is waiting when book-out finishes.
Kansas Rides lists OCCK service for the general public in Abilene within a six-mile radius on weekdays. The listing includes published fares and contact numbers, but it does not call the service a jail-release ride and does not show Sunday service.
Call OCCK and the jail in advance to confirm booking needs, service time, and a permitted pickup place. A ride plan should remain separate from proof that release occurred.
Dickinson County Release Facilities
The local and external custody systems have distinct release paths. The Dickinson County Detention Facility records county book-out. KDOC documents later state movements, community supervision, and discharge. BOP covers federal post-conviction custody, while USMS covers federal pretrial transport. ICE ODLS applies to searchable current immigration detention.
| Facility or system | Released-person path |
|---|---|
| Dickinson County Detention Facility | County release record for community book-out or named transfer. |
| Kansas Department of Corrections | KASPER and KDOC records for prison release, supervision, and discharge. |
| Federal Bureau of Prisons | BOP locator for federal released or not-in-custody status. |
| U.S. Marshals Service Custody | Federal docket and USMS for pretrial custody and transport. |
| ICE Detainee Locator | ODLS for searchable current immigration detention, not release history. |
